Zimbabwe-
In 2007 Lake Valley Community Church partnered with Rotary International to send Dru and Roger to Zimbabwe as engineers to evaluate the possibility of doing some partnership water projects between an Arkansas and Zimbabwe Rotary District.
Pumps have been installed for drinking water and gardening along with construction of water tanks, piping, and gutters for safe water distribution. Four major projects have been completed.
1. SOS CHILDREN'S VILLAGE PLOT - Drill a borehole and install and install a hand pump to enable young adult orphans to start a market gardening project and provide safe drinking water.
2. SIMAYNE CENTRE for 30 mentally disabled adults – Equip their existing borehole and provide piping to extend the vegetable garden so they are self-sufficient and income-generating.
3. ST BERNARD'S SCHOOL, PUMULA – Construction of an underground water tank to collect and store rain water harvested from the school roof, supply the piping from the roof gutters to the tank, provide a pump to distribute the water to provide water for the 975 pupils and teachers and the school vegetable gardens.
4. TOHWE SCHOOL IN MATOBO DISTRICT approx 60 km south of Bulawayo with 420 students and staff – Equip the existing borehole and install a piping distribution system to supply the school, clinic and vegetable garden with safe clean water.
