Ben Kilgore’s Bio

Student Ministry Pastor (6th - 12th grade)

My wife, Selina, and I have lived in Hot Springs, AR since 2002 and we were married in 2004. We are both are from the midwest, but we have felt a call to Hot Springs, AR. God has kept us here and engaged with this community. Recently my parents retired and have relocated here in Hot Springs. I grew up in my younger years in Oregon and Washington but Springfield, Missouri was where I called home from high school through college. From an early age I felt a call from God to be in the ministry. I still remember telling my mother this when I was 11 years old. It has been an interesting journey but I have to say that I have a very blessed life.

Several years ago we were blessed with Cole (5 years) and then a short time later came Anna Cate (3 years). It is a privilege and honor to be a husband and a father. My desire is to lead my family everyday. It is in the struggle of this daily life that I am reminded of how much I need the grace of Jesus. I love my life but it is really hard at times, and the last thing I want to do is paint this rosy picture of a perfect family. It is only by the grace and disciplship of Jesus that I am where I am today!

Ben handles all things involved with Lake Valley’s youth including worship, food, teaching, and small groups and more! He became part-time staff in 2006 and then full-time in 2009.

Why do you do what you do?
I do what I do because God has put a call on my life. I believe that I cannot communicate the gospel enough. I believe that we don’t fully understand it and we take it for granted everyday. I believe that I am called to encourage, empower and equip people to know the gospel, live it out in community, and demonstrate it to those around them.

What’s currently on your iPod?
U2 is the largest song collection on my itunes. I finally had the opportunity to see them in concert and it was an amazing show. I listen to Pandora radio and my most frequented stations are: Red, 80’s Alternative (yep it’s good stuff), Need to Breathe, and,  Live.

Starbucks Order?
Starbucks Bold or Extra Bold. Cafe Americano. Yes, I like coffee too much!!! I have been called the Lake Valley coffee snob from the pulpit! Thanks Dru

Favorite Restaurant?
Colorado Grill. The food is great, the wait staff is great, and they are wonderful with our children. It was our favorite when we were newlyweds and now it’s the family favorite.
